BioHeal for Improving Skin Health After Burns and Chemotherapy
Burns
from thermal injuries, radiation treatments, and chemotherapy causes skin
to heal very slowly. After the burn, a "zone-of-stasis" often develops
around the burned tissue and this may turn into a oozing sore and or skin
ulcer. The body does not receive the proper signals to heal the skin, then
repair becomes very slow. Often this can lead to scarring and permanently
damaged skin.
Chemotherapy can also slow skin repair and increase the development of sores.
For such damaged skin, use BioHeal after the burn has scabbed over (about a week post-burn) or chemotherapy has finished. Every day, use a light coating of BioHeal in the morning and in the evening as needed.
Caution: BioHeal is designed to improve skin health but is not a substitute for regular skin care and medical care by a physician or other qualified health care professional.
BioHeal has demonstrated strong properties in helping skin repair in five independent studies by world renown dermatologists at leading universities (studies are detailed below). In the past year, four papers on the skin repair properties of BioHeal have been published in peer-reviewed, international dermatology journals.
BioHeal often helps in helping to speed the skin's reduction of old burn scars. Better results are obtained if used with an alpha hydroxy acid cream. For more information Click here for www.scar-reduction.com.
Many emollients and moisturizers used for post-burn management delay the healing of irritated and damaged skin and make the situation worse by inhibiting natural skin repair. According to Dr. Halker-Sorenson (Skandborg, Denmark), new computerized instruments have demonstrated that many popular moisturizers increase skin damage in methods similar to skin irritants.
Nor are skin barrier creams an answer such as those containing petrolatum and lanolin. Dr. Charles Ellis (Ann Arbor, Michigan) commented, "In my experience and from what I can garner (from the literature), I don't think they work very well. What we need is to protect the skin surface and to heal the skin from within, by putting the skin in a situation in which normal skin repair can occur." (from: Skin and Allergy News, April 1997)
Virtually all of popular moisturizers and emollients sold by skin care
companies contain high concentrations of detergents and detergent-like
chemicals - despite 40 years of scientific evidence that these detergents
damage the skin and degrade the skin's natural protective function. Also
damaging to skin are many of the dyes and optical diffusers used to give
the appearance of healthy skin. Another, mistake is to add to skin creams
certain lipids that occur naturally in the skin - hoping that this replenishes
skin lipids and improves skin health. However, what recent research has
found, is that adding natural skin fats and lipids to skin creams causes
a reduction in the skin's natural biosynthesis of skin fats and lipids
so that, in a few weeks, the skin is in worse condition than before.
My cousin spilled boiling water on her thigh and gave herself a second degree burn. The doctor said it would take 3-6 months to heal. I gave my cousin my tube of BioHeal to use. The burn healed in 2 weeks and now after 6-7 months there isn't a mark at all - no scar at all! D.D.
I have been using P&R #3 with great results, especially on 2nd-degree burns on my hand a month ago which has healed perfectly. I think it's time to get a new supply and would like to inquire what is the best choice to use with Retin-A for the face to reduce acne scars, sun-damaged forehead lines and large pores. Should I use Tri-reduction or Bio-Heal? If Tri-reduction, which one? The choices are rather confusing. I just want to go with whatever would accelerate the skin renewal process.

Response: TriReduction is best for acne scars and sun damage, BioHeal for use after burns, and the regular P&Rs for skin renewal.
I tried the BioHeal on a patient with who have radiation therapy which left an oozing sore on his neck two months after therapy. The BioHeal healed the sore completely in two weeks.

The BioHeal cream completely healed the burn area on my forehead and there is no scarring. I had been burned by very hot coolant from my cars radiator after I opened the radiator cap. The physicians at the hospital thought I would need skin transplants but I started using BioHeal four days after the burn and had complete healing.
Thanks again,

At patient of mine had a chronic sore for four months on her chest after surgery and radiation therapy for breast cancer. Nothing seemed to heal the sore so I tried the BioHeal around the periphery of the sore and it healed over tried in about three weeks. I had her continue to use the cream on the skin area for another two weeks and the healing has been complete.

I writing about my daughter's result with BioHeal. As you recall, she badly burned her hand and the physicians thought she would need skin grafting.
After, the burn had scabbed over, I decided to try BioHeal to see if this would help avoid scarring and the need for skin grafting. After applying a light coating of BioHeal every night, the damaged skin started healing within a few days. After six weeks, there is no evidence of scarring. There was a discoloration of the skin but this is going away with time.
We are very happy with this result and wanted you to know.

Dear Skin Biology,
I am writing to inform you of my experience with the use of your BioHeal cream. I had surgery on my neck due to cancer. The skin around the neck was very irritated and reddened due to the radiation therapy that followed the surgery and was not healing very well. I used your cream on my skin for about 15 days. After 15 days the reddening had gone away and my skin had a much improved appearance. I would use the term "miraculous" to describe the effect that I observed with the cream on my neck.
Yours truly,
R.
